Wisconsin Iron Works has repaired and refurbished many antique and newer metal objects. We can remove rust and scale from cast iron or steel fixtures such as old lamps, outdoor lights, old wood stoves, cast iron pans and cook ware, etc.
We fix broken or cracked pieces and can restore a like new finish or antique patina to your specifications. We can make repairs on most metal objects made of forged or cast iron and steel, copper and brass. We do not work on objects cast in "white metal", pewter or aluminum.
Below are some before and after photos of a recent repair and refinish project for a high end kitchen remodeling job. The old antique stove hood came from France in bad shape. It needed to be squared and soldered at all joints before cleaning and refinish. Projects like this one are expensive to do. Everything is hand done and we used top end materials for the frame and patina. All worth it in the end, as the finished product speaks for itself.

Antique cast iron pan before repair
We can do a variety of small repair jobs to meet your needs This broken pan was repaired so that it would work as a wall hanger. Some evidence of the repair will always be apparent because the pan was made of antique cast iron. This material is very brittle and can crack easily if dropped on a harder surface. We cleaned and brushed the repair area and welded the broken piece back into place from the front and back. After welding the repair we grind it smooth to conform with the original lines of the pan.
If you have a broken object that is made of cast iron or steel, we can fix it for decorative use only. Heating up a repaired cast item will most likely crack it again. We DO NOT repair aluminum, pot metal or die cast material.
Please take a picture of the broken item and show as much detail as possible. Send us the photos via email and we will reply with a cost estimate for the repair.
